This was my sister, Debbie, and I's first trip to the Pacific coast
of California and we were awestruck by it's beauty.
After spending the morning hours driving along the coast,
we arrived at our motel in Pacific Grove in mid-afternoon on Wed. Oct. 11th.
As you can see by thes photos, our oceanfront room at Borg's offered a spectacular view.
Following Cliff Path, we were treated to views of seals basking in the sun on the rocks,
sea otters in the kelp beds and dolphins in the distance.
Lover's Point Park was only a 1/2 block away.
We joined many others watching surfers ride the waves just off the point.
After supper at the "Tinnery",next to the motel, we rode out to find John Denver Beach.
This picture, taken at dusk, shows only a few bouquets of flowers
remained from the weekend's events."
We returned to John's beach the next morning,Thursday, Oct. 12th,
to add our gift at John's log ... a blue bird ... and talked to some other JD fans on the beach.
Spying a lady we'd seen there the night before, we introduced ourselves and discovered
this lovely lady was Judith Gabriel from PA - who was the main force behind the benchs
and nestboxes being placed in the Hawk Mountian Sanctuary and the dedication
which took place there last June.
Judith was kind enough to take our picture by John's log ...
looking out upon the area where John's plane went down.
After leaving John's Beach, we visited the Monarch Grove
where this lovely bench guard's the entrance
and then drove along the beautiful 17 Mile Drive.
I want to Thank my sister, Debbie Hohenbrink, for all the lovely pictures...
when my camera went "poof" after the first day..
Debbie stepped in and became my photographer...Great Job, Debbie!!
