Dear John-
I found your music as a 13 year old and it taught me who I wanted to be. Years later, I was lucky enough to thank you in person for the gift of your music in my life and then at your next concert I met the wonderful man that I married. Thank you for that- I think you knew it before I did! At the wedding, everyone sang Annie's Song together. We played your songs with a few classical pieces too. I put some left over satin and lace from my wedding dress in the Peace Cloth.

I love to visit the Windstar land where we and Ron all sing around the campfire for you. I hug your mom every chance I get . Like you, she has a beautiful spirit.

I promise you that I will do everything I can to continue the work you started here on Earth. Your music has brought so many people together in so many different ways and given me many friends who share the same vision. I also play live music in outdoor summer concerts in a community band and love it.

Happy Birthday! Every day is a celebration of life and what is possible. You showed us all how to believe.

Thank you.

John has been a spirit in my life for more than 35 years. I met him once and we strolled for a few hundred yards in a beautiful park. His music and every word of every song is always personal yet universal to me. Last year 2005 I travelled to Aspen the week of the 12th October for the first time to mark his passing. Tonight I give thanks for his birth. Rest in Peace John and THANKYOU.

I was so blessed this year to have had the opportunity to record a tribute to John with three of his band members (Chris Nole, Pete Huttlinger and Jim Horn). The album is called "Songs That Speak To Me" . I have met so many wonderful people who have been touched by the music and yet another connection to John. I pledge today and always to "do my part" as John asked to make a difference in the lives of the people I meet every day. John's spirit does live on through all of us that really care....

Dennis Ducey <wilehart@oregontrail.net>

He inspired me to stand up and fight for the Wilderness, to be all I could be, not what I was. “The Eagle and The Hawk” and “To The Wild Country” will always remind me of the man that inspired to dare to do what others said could not be done, and remind me of the fourteen lakes added to the Trinity Alps Wilderness.
His songs gave words to emotions I could not express, and add new meaning to my life.
