A new year has begun, a new start with good wishes.
Full of hope are we longing for a better 2004 than 2003 was. May Peace be within our hearts.
John cherished Peace and Hope in all his songs and dreams. More than 6 years ago we had to say farewell to a beloved friend...though....deep in our hearts he is still with us.

When the sun is fading, when the days are getting shorter and the nights longer then we have more time for eachother. Every season gives you the chance to experience John....look around you...nature is giving you a wonderful bouquet of flowers. A bouquet of love on the long winterevenings, a little touch of friendship during a walk in the Autumn. That was exactly what John meant to tell us: the simplicity of life in harmony with nature.
Dear people all over the world: keep John's legacy alive and pass on his message

Hoping that John is able to stop the injustice in the world and can bring peace for everyone is a beautiful dream. Somewhere John is watching over us and gives us his lovely ideas though his music. You only have to listen. Hoping that the leaders of this world ever are going to understand and learn that this is a world for all of us.. This was always John's vision!
This entrie is in the Dutch language because I know that the place where John is now, is called the universe.. John sure would understand me.

Uncle John, To light just one candle for you is not enough. You taught me so much.
Dreaded day when I had to call mum and tell her what I heard on the radio. I could hardly speak. I did not want to believe it but Uncle Kris confirmed it on the phone with mum. Uncle John I will never ever forget you. I thank you for letting us kids call you Uncle. I think You would be proud of what I have become, I am about to start my own business. You told me to always hold on to my dreams & that I have Done
I Love You
See Ya.

John, I just visited your friend Lynn's "In Loving Memory Of John Denver" pages ... what a wonderful friend you chose that night so many years ago. I'm so Thankful she chose to share her memories of you with all of us. It makes me so sad to know that you thought you would be forgotten if you left us, John. I hope somehow, at this moment in time, you may somehow know that you are still very much apart of many people's lives, each and every day... You are loved, John, and remembered with warm and loving thoughts.... You are so in our hearts, John, you will never be forgotten....

Sweet Dreams, My Friend...

Dear John,
In difficult times there is always your music to give comfort.Thank you for the legacy you left us.
Like so many of us I also meet the nicest people.
Your dearest friend Linda, who gives us the opportunity to light a candle for you.One of the candles here is for her and for her husband. I know that you will approve that John.
My Belgium friend Luc Degevy, who doesn't know to write the English language very well, wrote a letter at this page. I will try to translate it:

When the sun shines above our heads, when we feel the force of the wind that is blowing through the trees, when the sea is beating on our shores, then we are realizing how small we are in opposite to our Mother Earth.
Have respect for our beautiful planet, try to learn to know her in all her aspects.
John tried to teach us to have comprehension and understanding: THANK YOU JOHN!!!
Now it is up to us to teach the world the vision that John left us, a vision that is extending troughout the 21th century, a vision and message full of force and power, forever!!!
A message we will never forget.
From Europe[Belgium]I like to give my love to everybody who loves John's legacy and is trying to live by that.

Dearest John,

This journey has been long and very difficult trying to cope with your leaving all of us. No, I am not (nor will I ever be) over the fact that your body has left this earthly realm. I just can’t continue to be on this earth and not do what >I< am meant to do: teach environmental ethics. By not living in the present, I am undermining my attempts to make the world a better place in the future. I do try to get myself together daily in order to revise my syllabi for the incoming students; it is not working, yet. I need to digress in order to tell you how I fell in love with your spirit. Everything has happened so quickly; I can’t begin to just “let it go.”

I found your music only four years ago. “The Gift You Are” is the first song I ever heard. I immediately felt a bond with you, and the bond became stronger as I heard more of your music. It didn’t seem to matter whether you wrote it or merely sang it; the music came from your heart and poured into many people’s. I didn’t know, or it never registered with me, that you were not here on this earth. I continued to get your music but had no context to put it in. I looked for a new album or a concert that I could finally see you at and none came.

A couple of months ago, I went into a mini-depression of sorts. I bought your book, “Take Me Home,” and the movie they made of your life (although I would not say it was anything close to the book!). For some reason, I could neither hear about nor watch you in pain and/or sorrow. I felt like it was me, and I had never hurt as badly before. The first couple to three weeks I did nothing but search the internet to find clues that you were still alive. I guess my brain had to believe this. Finally, I found what I never wanted to: a report about your body being identified by your fingerprints. My world crashed all around me. John, I know the last thing you want is for me to be miserable over your leaving, but it is difficult to not live within the song “Fly Away.” For each morning, I wish I could. Yes, I hear people say that you are here in the eagles, in the clouds, in the skies, and in your music. I take comfort in many of your lyrics, as you sang about no longer being with us, but the tears continue to fall daily.

I don’t know how I am going to put your spirit and your music in the right priority, so I can live the life I was meant to. I DO know I have to find a way. The bond is just so very strong, I will not go a day without listening to you. I still cannot listen to any of your songs where you were hurting. “I Remember Romance” put me in a place I do not want to go to again. John, I hope you are playing to the largest audience you have ever played to. I want you to know that here on earth, you have a place in so many hearts and people are beginning to make many changes. I think you would have been proud of some and writing songs to help us deal with the tragic happenings of the last three years.

You are very much loved the world over, and I never see this changing. All the voices that cannot speak for themselves reach up to you with a forever kind of thankfulness; the mountains have saved a path for you to hike, the streams have saved a bridge for you to cross, the rivers have saved a fish for you to catch, the trees have saved their branches for you to climb, and the stars still twinkle when Shanghai Breezes pass by. I have to believe you already know this.

Until...never good-bye!

Dear John, I do meet the nicest people because of you! You have a new fan out there who I've only recently met because of my pages for you! She is struggling to deal with your passing and that she didn't discover you, your music and ideals until after you left us. This is a special person, John...one you'd be proud to meet and get to know. She is teacher and environmentalist teaching environmental ethics and I know you two would have had alot to chat about. She comes here at times, to Light A Candle for you, John, but just hasn't been able to do it yet. So you have something to look forward to in her greeting. For me, this is a place to chat with you, John. I can't imagine doing it any other way! It's wonderful to see how the entries have grown over the past year and a half and I've never been sorry that I opened these pages for your fans to leave their comments. Just wish I could read some of the messages left for you in other languages!! Missing you always, John....

It always does me good to come and read the messages here, John. Makes me feel closer to you somehow...to see the impact you had on other's lives just as you had on mine and still do. I do not take credit for these words that were sent to me today by a friend, but wanted to share them with you, John. They touched my heart....

To me, John is what singing is all about.
What life is all about.
Voicing expressions of the heart and spirit, capturing life's experiences
and
forming them into sound.
A sound that others can listen to and discover their own similar visions
in a
way that lets you know how many others feel the very same.

The Universal language that speaks to all.

The beauty and clarity of his voice comes from his distinct sincerity.

It reaches across time and space.
It nurtures the energy of all life.
What an incredible legacy from a beautiful man.

Sweet Dreams, John
